January is such an exciting time. We all stand on the brink of a new year... it's raw and cold and fresh and clean.
As I sit here writing this post, I can't help but think of all the things I've done over the last several years growing my business. I've read dozens of business books, blogs, and tried every new organization trend under the sun as I kickstarted a successful photography business in a flooded market.
But at the end of the day, stories and simplicity always win out.
So I'd like to introduce you to the way I story my days. It's simple; I have a 2016/2017 paper source calendar. The reason that I love this calendar is that I can see the big picture of my month in a huge lay-flat calendar- then flip a few pages back to plan out each day.
It's radically changed how I do life. I work in blocks and projects now and it's so freeing. I love being able to scribble things through when I'm finished. Keeping my life somewhat more tactile is perfect for me.
And whatever you do, don't forget to take a day completely off. Taking a 'Sabbath' rest has been one of the greatest things that I have done for my business and myself. Resting completely fires me up for the rest of the week.
Block off a whole day for yourself once a week and don't touch your email... trust me. It's worth it.
