I have a few holiday traditions that I just can't stop.
My New Roots Healthy Holiday Gingerbread is one of them.
With so many spices, they make the house smell wonderful.
Below are my shots of this tasty treat in progress...
I never make a recipe without changing a few things.
I skip the whole "let's make our cookies in fun shapes!" bit.
Typically, I just don't have the patience to immaculately cut sticky dough
into the shape of woodland creatures.
I also skip the icing, because grinding cashew nuts is not my idea
of a happy holiday time.
Instead, I sprinkle the tops with salt,
which brings out the flavor of the dough.
